How to Obtain a gBizID Prime Account

gBizID is a shared authentication system in Japan that lets corporations and sole proprietors access multiple government services with a single ID and password. Accounts have no expiry date and require no annual renewal. (As of March 28, 2023)

Please keep the gBizID account information you obtain safe.

Types of gBizID

gBizID has three account types: Prime, Member, and Entry.

The government services you can use differ by account type. For details, see the "List of government services available with gBizID."

The application method differs by account type. This article explains how to apply for gBizID Prime.

What you need for account registration

A smartphone or mobile phone — needed to receive one-time passwords by SMS.

A seal registration certificate and registered seal — the original, issued within the last three months, is required. After stamping the application form, send it together with the seal registration certificate to the operations centre.

Creating a gBizID Prime

These are the steps for creating a gBizID Prime if you don't already have a gBizID Entry.

1. Go to the "gBizID Prime application form creation page"

2. Register your email address. Enter the email address you want as your gBizID Prime account ID in the Account ID (email address) field and click "Next"

3. Check the email address and, if it's correct, click "OK"

4. A one-time password arrives at the registered email address, so enter it and click "OK". The one-time password is valid for 30 minutes.

5. On the basic information registration screen, enter your corporate number, company name, and so on, then click "Next"

6. Enter the user details on the account user information registration screen. For a gBizID Prime registration application, the name and date of birth in the basic information and the account user information must match. The representative and the user need to be the same person, so the "Copy representative information" and "Copy basic information" buttons are handy. When you're done, click "Next"

7. On the account information registration screen, enter the phone number for receiving SMS, check the terms, and tick the checkbox. Click "Next".

8. On the application confirmation screen, check the details of your application. If there are no problems, click "OK". No SMS is sent at registration, so check carefully that the phone number is correct.

9. On the completion (awaiting approval) screen, click the "Download application form" button

10. On the gBizID Prime registration application form, handwrite the date of preparation, stamp it with your registered seal, and send the original application form together with the seal registration certificate (issued within three months) to the gBizID Operations Centre.

11. If there are no problems with the application, in principle within two weeks you'll receive an email titled "Notice of receipt of gBizID Prime registration application." Click the URL in the email and an SMS containing a one-time password will arrive at the registered mobile number.

With this, issuance of your gBizID Prime account is complete.
